Kenya's high-profile murder probe into the death of Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen has taken a new turn with the departure of his sister, Gabrielle Van Straten, from the country ahead of her brother's burial.

According to sources, Gabrielle and her husband Roy flew out of Kenya on September 21, just a day after attending the opening of her brother's will.

The couple's lawyer, Cliff Ombeta, clarified that they had decided to return home for personal reasons, with Gabrielle having already exhausted her stay in Kenya.

Meanwhile, widow Sarah Wairimu is in court seeking permission to attend her husband's burial, which is scheduled to take place on Monday at the Jewish Cemetery in Nairobi.

Despite Gabrielle's absence, the internment of her brother is set to proceed as planned, with the family's lawyer confirming that the burial will go ahead as scheduled.
