Nakuru County has committed to fast-tracking the County Enterprise Fund Bill to unlock a budgeted Sh27 million revolving fund for businesses. This decision comes after the Nakuru Business Coalition, under the banner of the Nakuru Business Coalition, requested the county to prioritize the bill during a dialogue forum.
The first phase of the dialogue forums is being held in eight counties: Uasin Gishu, Machakos, Nakuru, Kisumu, Vihiga, Kiambu, Mombasa, and Nairobi. The fund, which attracts zero per cent interest, aims to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to grow.
Nakuru County Acting Director of Trade, Investment, and Industrialisation, John Macharia, stated that the fund was created as an intervention measure to assist SMEs. He added that the county has set aside a budget of Sh10 million in addition to Sh17 million held by the State Department of Trade.
Joseph Gichuru, chairman of the Nakuru Business Coalition, emphasized the need for the bill to become law so that the county can start disbursing the revolving fund.
