On September 23, 2019, a gruesome discovery was made in Waitwa village, Murang'a County, where a 70-year-old woman and her son were found brutally murdered.
The bodies of Margaret Nyambura and her son Benson Muhungi were discovered by their neighbors, who found them lying on a path leading to their family compound.
According to Kandara Deputy Police Commander Paul Wambugu, investigations revealed that Nyambura was dragged from her kitchen to the path where she met her death, suffering blunt force trauma to her head.
Wambugu noted that food was found in Nyambura's kitchen, indicating that she had been cooking when her killer struck.
Residents of the village have blamed bhang peddlers for the rise in criminal activities in the area, appealing to police to take action against them.
Police are particularly interested in recovering the murder weapon and are urging the public to come forward with any information that could help uncover the motive behind the killings.
