A heart-wrenching proposal turned into a tragic accident at the Manta Resort in Tanzania on September 19, 2019. Steven Weber, an American citizen on holiday with his girlfriend Kenesha Antoine, drowned while proposing underwater.

The couple was staying in a wooden cabin with a bedroom submerged beneath the ocean surface. Weber swam underwater and held a handwritten note against the bedroom windows, reading: 'I can’t hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you. BUT…Everything I love about you I love more EVERY DAY! “Will you please be my WIFE. Marry me???”

Unfortunately, Weber never emerged from the depths, and Kenesha Antoine was left to mourn the loss of her partner. In a subsequent Facebook post, she wrote: 'You never emerged from those depths, so you never got to hear my answer, ‘Yes! Yes! A million times, yes, I will marry you!!”

The Manta Resort CEO, Matthew Saus, released a statement expressing condolences to the family and friends affected by the tragic accident. The U.S State Department also confirmed the incident and offered their sincerest condolences to the family.
