Published on September 22, 2019, Lakers Hockey Club staged a thrilling comeback to hold relegation-threatened Kenyatta University 2-2 in a KHU Women Premier League match at Jomo Kenyatta Sportsground, Kisumu.

Kenyan international Alice Owiti scored two last-minute goals to turn the match around, after Kenyatta University had taken a two-goal lead through Miriam Mwangi and Monica Kitui.

Owiti, who had recently represented Kenya in the Africa Field Hockey 2020 Olympic qualifiers in South Africa, pulled a goal back in the third quarter and then scored the equalizer from a short corner.

Speaking after the match, Lakers head coach Austin Tuju urged his team to improve their game speed, saying they had started slowly and allowed the opponents too much space.

Meanwhile, Kenyatta University coach Richard Wandera expressed disappointment at the draw, calling on his players to defend better in their next matches.
