On a day when league leaders Inter Milan were idle, Juventus sought to reclaim the top spot in Serie A. However, they found themselves behind early, with Miguel Veloso scoring in the 20th minute after Hellas Verona had missed an earlier penalty opportunity.

Aaron Ramsey, making his first start for Juventus, equalized 11 minutes later with a shot that deflected off Koray Gunter. The German defender's misfortune continued when he brought down Juan Cuadrado in the 64th minute, resulting in a penalty that Cristiano Ronaldo converted with ease.

Verona pushed for a leveller in the final minutes, but Gianluigi Buffon made crucial saves, including one from Darko Lazovic in the 89th minute. Marash Kumbulla was sent off late on for the visitors after receiving a second yellow card for a foul on Blaise Matuidi.

Despite the win, Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri acknowledged that his team was still a work in progress, citing mental fatigue and a loss of balance due to the numerous changes made to the lineup.

Verona coach Ivan Juric expressed disappointment at not securing a draw, feeling that his team had created enough chances to earn a point.
