Published on September 22, 2019, Chief Justice David Maraga delivered a sermon at the Victory SDA Church in Kisumu, where he emphasized the need for Kenyans to re-examine their social values to combat corruption.

According to the CJ, corruption is eating away a significant portion of the national budget, with a third of the Sh1.3 trillion allocated for the current year being pocketed by corruption cartels.

Maraga urged Christians to take an active role in fighting corruption, stating, "We must not remain lukewarm as Christians. We must stand up to be counted. The Bible says you are either cold or warm. The Lord says if you are lukewarm, he will spit you out."

He also downplayed recent squabbles within the SDA Church, assuring that the institution remains strong and committed to its mission.
