On September 21, 2019, Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed visited the World marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge at his Global Communication training camp in Kaptagat, Kenya.
With less than a month to go before the historic sub two-hour run, dubbed the 'INEOS 1:59 challenge', Mohammed conveyed her best wishes to Kipchoge as he finalizes his preparations.
‘Kipchoge is one of the greatest marathon runners of all time, a talented yet extraordinarily humble man at his training facility. I wish Eliud all the success as he attempts to beat his previous world record of 2:01 to a sub two of 1:59,’ said Amina.
Amina further noted that Kipchoge's mission is not only to break the barrier but to inspire others that every dream is possible.
‘Eliud is not running for fame but for the future of human capability, a purpose higher than himself. He joins the list of my iconic inspirations of all time,’ she added.
