Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has received a major boost ahead of the Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday, September 22, at Stamford Bridge, with the return of midfielder Mason Mount to training.
Mount had been a major doubt for the match after suffering a heavy challenge on his right ankle in Chelsea's Champions League defeat to Valencia on Tuesday, September 17.
However, after undergoing another round of scans, it was revealed that Mount did not suffer any ligament damage as initially feared.
Speaking during his press conference on Friday, September 20, Lampard confirmed that Mount was in contention for a spot to face the Premier League leaders this weekend.
Mount trained freely with his teammates on Friday, playing an active role in the warm-up and finishing drills, and was spotted alongside N'Golo Kante, who is also battling to feature against Liverpool.
Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham took to social media to applaud Mount's return, saying, 'Oh here we go, camera's out because Mason's back.'
Mount's return to training is a significant boost for Chelsea ahead of the Premier League clash with Liverpool, who are currently top of the table.
