On September 21, 2019, New Zealand's All Blacks secured a 23-13 victory over South Africa in their opening World Cup Pool B match at the International Stadium in Yokohama.

Despite South Africa's 59 percent territory and 53 percent possession, the All Blacks made the most of their limited opportunities, scoring two tries from turnover ball.

South African coach Rassie Erasmus conceded that the New Zealanders were clear favourites to win again, and the team's extreme fitness came to the fore in the final quarter.

When it looked like South Africa could hit the lead, the All Blacks took charge, rebuilding their lead with two further penalties.

As South Africa found to their expense, it's not what you've got, it's what you do with it.
