On September 20, 2019, the Will of slain Nairobi-based Dutch businessman Tob Cohen was opened in the presence of his sister, brother, and lawyers by Kirundi & Co Advocates.
The Will, which was drafted in April 2019, shows that Cohen shared his property, estimated to be worth about Sh700 million, among his sister, brother, nephew, and niece.
According to the Will, Cohen's sister Gabrielle Straten was bequeathed 50 percent of the Kitisuru home, while the remaining was shared out between Gabrielle's two children.
Gabrielle will also inherit all the shares held by Cohen in his companies, including a tour company called Cohen Tours, as well as Sh100 million cash in local and international banks.
Cohen's brother, Bernard, will get Sh50 million in a Dutch account.
Lawyer Kirundi confirmed that the Will had not leaked to anyone since it was sealed, dismissing allegations to the contrary.
However, Sarah Wairimu, Cohen's estranged wife and prime suspect in his murder, objected to the contents of the Will, claiming it was tampered with.
Wairimu's lawyer, Philip Murgor, vowed to challenge the Will in court, stating that his client deserves to inherit the property of the deceased.
Cohen went missing on July 19th and was found dead on July 13th, with his body dumped in an underground water tank at his home in Kitisuru.
