November 11th, 2017, was a day of chaos for motorists on Mombasa Road as heavy downpour in neighboring Kajiado County caused River Sultan Hamud to burst its banks.

The resulting floods blocked the road, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes to avoid being swept away.

Motorists have been advised to use the Makindu-Wote and Konza-Makutano route to bypass the affected area.

Residents of the area have expressed concerns over the regular occurrence of floods, particularly after heavy rains, and have called on the county government to find a solution to the problem.

The floods have not only affected the Mombasa-Nairobi highway but also sections of Sultan Hamud, causing traders to close their businesses due to the effects of the floods.

Area residents have urged the county government and their leaders to take action to resolve the situation once and for all.
