On September 21, 2019, a 38-year-old man was arrested by police officers from Rangwe police station in Homa Bay County.
The man, accused of engaging in sexual activities with his 16-year-old daughter, was taken into custody over allegations of defilement.
According to area chief Daniel Omondi, the suspect was arrested after neighbours reported the heinous act to the authorities.
The minor, a class seven pupil at a local primary school, had initially reported the matter to one of their neighbours after her mother declined to take any action.
During interrogation, the minor revealed that her father had defiled her on multiple occasions in the bush near their home while her mother was away.
The minor's mother was also arrested for allegedly trying to conceal her husband's immoral behavior.
The two were taken to Rangwe police station, where they are being detained before being arraigned in court on Monday next week.
The minor was taken to Nyawita dispensary for a medical examination.
