On 20 September, Karanja Kibicho, the Interior Permanent Secretary, launched a scathing attack on Deputy President William Ruto, accusing him of causing political confusion in Jubilee party and parts of Mount Kenya region.
Speaking at the launch of a borehole in Kirinyaga County, Kibicho warned Ruto to keep off the affairs of the county, hinting that the DP was responsible for the political confusion within the ruling Jubilee party and the region at large.
"It is shocking that some leaders visit us and want to reap where they did not sow. We as the area residents should reject the confusion being imposed on us," Kibicho asserted.
He also called for the complete rejection of the Punguza Mzigo bill, which has been supported by Ruto and several of his allies, who claim it is the only genuine constitutional amendment attempt with the interest of Kenyans at heart.
"We should reject this bill and focus on development. We should strategise on waking up and working hard to ensure that there is food on our tables. However, these people come and waste your time when you should be working," Kibicho advised.
The remarks come in the wake of a simmering rivalry and fallout between Ruto and his former confidant-turned critic, Anne Waiguru, who has since distanced herself from his 2022 bid.
