On September 21, 2019, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, attended her friend Misha Nonoo's wedding in Rome, wearing a stunning black Valentino dress worth Sh1.1 million (£8,900). The dress, a puff sleeved embroidered tulle gown, was a bold choice for the happy occasion.
While many praised the new mum for her elegant and classy outfit, one stylist, Lucas Armitage, slammed her for breaking tradition and opting to wear black on a happy occasion. Speaking to MailOnline, Armitage branded her outfit choice as 'shocking', saying, 'Wedding guests usually shun black in favor of a more complimentary color to pair with white...'
However, Meghan wasn't the only high-profile wedding guest who opted for a black ensemble for the fashion designer's wedding. Supermodel Karlie Kloss also chose a black dress, a strapless, figure-hugging gown covered in black sequins. Princess Eugenie, a notable Brit on the wedding guest list, also broke with tradition by wearing a simple black boat-necked number.
