Naivasha's Malewa Bay was abuzz with activity on September 21, 2019, as the two-day Chloride Exide Hill Climb event got underway at 7 am.

According to Devan Jadeja, the Race Director, the event was expected to be filled with spectacular action from the moment scrutineering began to the final day.

Scrutineering took place between 7:30 am and 10 am, followed by a Parade Lap at 11:30 am. The action proper began at noon on both days.

The event was held at Malewa Bay, situated on Moi North Lake Road on the outskirts of Naivasha. The 4-kilometer stretch had 14 sharp corners, rising from 1820m to 2050m above sea level.

Among the competitors was Tim Jessop, who had recently won the Mombasa Rally, a round of the 2019 Kenya National Rally Championship.

The event featured 24 entries, including ladies such as Syaana Jessop and Chantel Young, who were expected to attract a lot of interest. Cars ran at two-minute intervals on the competitive heats, while motorcycles ran at one-minute intervals on similar heats.
