Fast forward to today, Simbas will be playing for pride when they host Zimbabwe in their last Victoria Cup match at the Nakuru Athletic Club.

With Zimbabwe already confirmed as champions of the four-team tournament following their 41-5 win over Zambia last weekend, Simbas will be looking to avenge their 30-29 loss to the Sables in the reverse fixture.

Kenya coach Paul Odera has named a new-look team with 10 uncapped players, including Vincent Onyala of the Kenya Sevens team, making their debut.

Simbas have lost their last three home matches, and today's dead rubber tie provides them with an opportunity to break that hoodoo.

On July 18, 2015, Simbas' Joshua Chisanga tackled Jamie Nava of Spain's Los Leones during an international match at the RFUEA Grounds.

Simbas' coach Paul Odera said, 'It is always a special time for players, their clubs and families to earn a call up to the Simbas. There are those who have worked hard but not made the team and they need to maintain their work ethic and focus.'

Simbas will be captained by Samson Onsomu, with Elkeans Musonye and Malcolm Onsando as deputies.

Published on September 21, 2019, Zimbabwe coach Brendan Dawson said, 'Having won the title last month, we are equally ready to silence the Simbas to end our quest for top honours on a positive note.'
