On September 23, 2019, Tob Cohen, a slain businessman, was laid to rest at the Jewish Cemetery along Wangari Mathai Road, Nairobi, in a private burial ceremony.
Before the burial, Cohen's family lawyer, Cliff Ombeta, addressed the media, dismissing claims that Cohen's will had been compromised.
Ombeta accused Philip Murgor, Cohen's widow Sarah Wairimu's lawyer, of attempting to spoil the reputation of lawyer Chege Kirundi, whose firm had been contracted to prepare Cohen's will.
According to Ombeta, Murgor's actions were an attempt to 'throw mud into the water and claim no one will bathe in that dirty water.'
Ombeta urged Murgor to challenge the will in a legitimate manner if he believed it was illegitimate, rather than 'soiling someone's name.'
Confirming that the will had been sealed and not tampered with, Ombeta stated that it would be read in public, solidifying its legitimacy.
The will reading session was initially attended by Cohen's widow, Sarah Wairimu, but she refused to participate after a local publication allegedly published the contents of the will on September 16, 2019.
