Published on September 20, 2019, fitness trainer Eric Leija has gained a massive following on Instagram for his efficient and muscle-building workouts. His well-choreographed routines allow his followers to try the exercises for themselves at home or on the go.
Leija's recent bodyweight and kettlebell workout is designed to give users a 'serious leg and core pump.' Ebenezer Samuel, C.S.C.S., Men's Health's fitness director, weighed in on how to replicate Leija's moves at home.
- Samuel advises that the bear crawl pushup is harder than it looks, and to keep elbows close to the torso while opening knees as wide as possible.
- He also cautions that the kickthrough move that follows will catch users off-guard, and to take their time on it, letting their front foot touch the ground if needed.
- Samuel notes that the kettlebell portion of the workout is a little easier to perfect, involving a double-kettlebell swing to clean to front squat.
Leija recommends performing each move for 5 sets, taking 30 seconds to work each movement, and resting for 1 to 2 minutes in between sets.
