On September 20, 2019, a Kenyan company, Watts Dynamics Limited, filed a lawsuit against German and British investors over a Sh13 billion energy project in Homabay County.

The company, represented by Lawyer Donald Kipkorir, claims that it developed the idea for a power plant that runs on hyacinth between 1998 and 2006.

Watts Dynamics Limited alleges that the German African Energy Council GMBH and PetSchow and Thiel Project management misrepresented the project's technical and economic viability, leading to the company's loss.

The company wants the court to declare it a bonafide shareholder of Thika Way Investments Limited and issue a permanent injunction restraining the defendants from dealing with the Biomass Power Plant Project for 25 years.

They are also seeking general damages for breach of contract against the respondents.

The case is set to proceed for further directions.
