As the US grapples with a vaping crisis, Walmart has announced it will stop selling e-cigarettes at its US locations. The decision comes amid mounting medical concerns over the health effects of vaping.
Since August, mysterious vaping-related illnesses have been on the rise, with 530 probable cases reported as of Thursday. A Missouri man became the eighth person to die from the mysterious ailments.
On Tuesday, New York state health officials approved an emergency ban on flavored e-cigarettes, following a similar announcement by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo on Sunday. Michigan also announced a ban on flavored e-cigarettes this month.
Just last week, the Trump administration announced plans to ban the sale of most flavored e-cigarettes. Walmart had previously raised the minimum age for tobacco products to 21 and stopped selling fruit- and dessert-flavored e-cigarettes in May.
