On September 20, 2019, Sarah Wairimu Cohen filed an urgent application in court seeking permission to attend her husband's funeral, which was scheduled for Monday.
She requested to be escorted to the Jewish cemetery where her late husband, Tob Cohen, would be buried.
Lawyer Philip Murgor, representing Wairimu, urged the court to hear the plea as a matter of urgency, stating that his client should not be denied her right to accord her husband a decent burial and pay her last respects.
The advocate emphasized that the burial was a private affair and only family members would be present.
Wairimu's petition to attend the burial was set to be heard on Monday.
Meanwhile, Murgor and his client skipped the reading of Tob Cohen's will on Friday, alleging that its contents were 'severely compromised.'
According to Murgor, the contested properties between Wairimu and the deceased included their house worth Ksh. 400 million, which should be shared equally.
Tob Cohen's body was discovered at his home in an underground tank almost two months after he was reported missing.
His wife, Sarah Wairimu Cohen, is currently remanded at Lang'ata Women's Prison after a court ordered her detention for 10 days as police complete investigations.
