McDonald Mariga's Kibra Campaign Rally Sparks Backlash ¶
McDonald Mariga, a former Inter Milan player, has been criticized for holding a campaign rally in the Lang'ata constituency, which is not part of the Kibra constituency he is vying to represent.
Mariga, who was cleared by the IEBC to contest in the Kibra by-election, held a rally at the Nyayo Stadium on September 19, 2019, where he met with residents from the Makina, Laini Saba, Sarang'ombe, Lindi, and Woodley wards.
However, the choice of venue has been questioned, with some residents suggesting that the Woodley area or the Kamukunji grounds would have been more suitable for the event.
Mariga's campaign rally has sparked a heated debate on social media, with some netizens mocking his decision to hold the rally in the Lang'ata constituency.
Mariga is one of 23 candidates vying for the Kibra seat in the upcoming by-election, which is scheduled for November 7, 2019.
