On September 20, 2019, a gold miner lost his life while under treatment at the Bondo Sub-county Hospital.
The unidentified man was rushed to the hospital after a mining shaft collapsed at the San-Martin gold mining site in Ramba village, Rarieda sub-county.
According to village officer Alice Ouko, the man was trapped inside the collapsed shaft while his colleague sustained head injuries.
Fortunately, both men were pulled out alive and taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, one died later.
The other victim was treated and discharged, as confirmed by the administrator.
