Reggae legend Alpha Blondy has finally apologized for his infamous no-show at a 2013 concert in Nairobi, where thousands of fans were left disappointed.
The concert, which was part of Kenya's 50th independence celebrations, was scheduled to take place on June 15, 2013, at the KICC, with Alpha Blondy set to perform alongside Jamaican dancehall and reggae legend Tairus Riley and dancehall star Demarco.
However, the three headliners failed to take the stage, leaving over 3,000 fans who had paid up to Sh5,000 for VIP tickets feeling frustrated and disappointed.
Alpha Blondy, who returned to Nairobi on Thursday to headline the 27th Koroga Festival at the Two Rivers Mall, explained that the promoter had failed to clear payments with the artists, leading to the chaos.
"I'm deeply sorry for what happened. I was pissed off. The problem was the promoter. He had bought us tickets and booked us in a good hotel, but on the day of the show, he went missing on us," Alpha Blondy apologized.
He promised to make up for the incident during his performance at the Koroga Festival.
