Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has been praised by Didier Drogba for his work with young players, with the former Chelsea striker crediting Tammy Abraham's success to the mentorship he received from him during his days at Chelsea.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Drogba revealed that he had known Abraham since he was a young player at Chelsea, and had trained alongside him during his academy days.
"Yeah, I have known him since he's been like this," Drogba said, referring to Abraham's impressive form in his Premier League debut.
Abraham has scored seven goals in five games for Chelsea, and Drogba believes that his success is a result of the skills and knowledge he gained from training with the Chelsea reserve team.
"They are kids we used to see, they used to come and watch us training, and I believe they were learning a little bit of our skills, how we read the game," Drogba explained.
He added that he was not surprised by Abraham's success, saying: "It was always a moment for me to give away some skills, some knowledge, and they learnt really fast, really quick. So once again, I'm not surprised with what I have seen with Abraham."
