McDonald Mariga's Kibra Campaign Rally Sparks Online Backlash ¶
On September 19, 2019, McDonald Mariga, a Jubilee candidate in the upcoming Kibra by-election, held a campaign rally at Nyayo National Stadium in Lang'ata constituency.
The rally brought together voters from five wards in Kibra constituency, including Makina, Laini Saba, Sarang'ombe, Lindi, and Woodley.
However, the choice of venue sparked online backlash, with many netizens questioning why Mariga would hold a campaign rally in Lang'ata constituency, which is not part of the Kibra constituency he is vying to represent.
Mariga's campaign rally was part of his efforts to engage with voters and share his development agenda for Kibra. He stated, "Earlier this evening at Nyayo Stadium, I met the residents of Makina, Laini Saba, Sarangombe, Lindi and Woodley wards. The agenda was development matters and how we will work together for the betterment of Kibra residents,"
Mariga will be up against 23 other opponents for the seat on November 7, 2019.
Despite the online backlash, Mariga's campaign rally was an opportunity for voters to share their needs and aspirations for a better Kibra.
