Celebrities Who Never Made It to the Altar

Engagement season is a time of joy and celebration for many, but for some celebrities, it ended in heartbreak and disappointment. Here are five public celebrity proposals that never made it to the altar.

Chipukeezy, a Kenyan comedian, proposed to his girlfriend Vivian Mandera, also known as Empress Kerry, in 2015. However, the couple broke up after three years, with Chipukeezy stating that 'people fall in and out of love, and maybe the plans I had for her did not work out.' He added that they moved on because 'there is more to life than just love and relationships.'

Willis Raburu, a TV presenter, proposed to Sally Mbilu in 2014, but she broke off their engagement after a year and a half. Raburu later met his current wife, Marya Prude, and proposed to her in 2017.

Avril, a Kenyan singer, took a break from her engagement to South African fiancé Muga in 2016. She cited her career as the main focus at the time and stated that she was not in the state of mind and heart to plan her wedding.

Jacque Maribe and Jowie Irungu's engagement was short-lived, as Jowie was arrested as a suspect in the murder of Monicah Kimani in 2018. Maribe was also arrested for being his alibi, and it appears the engagement is over.

Pendo, a Kenyan socialite, got engaged to a mzungu guy in October 2019, but her happiness was short-lived. She was allegedly arrested for not being able to pay a Ksh 75,000 bill at a Westlands-based hotel, but she denied the allegations.
