Published on September 20, 2019, a disturbing incident unfolded at Shirere location in Kakamega Central sub-county, where a 45-year-old mother was allegedly targeted by her son in a shocking attempted rape incident.

The accused, identified as AMM, was charged with attempted rape and an alternative count of committing indecent acts with an adult.

According to court records, the altercation began when the mother picked some logs from the compound, which led to a heated argument between the two. The accused allegedly threatened to attack his mother with a hammer and pulled down her skirt, stating he was ready to serve a jail term after having a sexual encounter with her.

Fortunately, the mother's screams attracted her daughter and other neighbors, who came to her rescue. AMM was subsequently arrested and taken to Isulu Patrol Base, where he denied the charges.

He was granted a Sh100,000 bond with a surety of similar amount or an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000. The matter will be mentioned on October 3 and heard on November 4.
