On September 20, 2019, Genzebe Dibaba, the Ethiopian athlete who set a new 1500m world record in 2015 with a time of 3:50.07, announced her withdrawal from the 2019 Doha Worlds.
According to a statement from Pineda Sport, Dibaba was diagnosed with a partial rupture in her right foot after the Zurich Diamond League meeting in August.
