On September 18, 2019, a series of unfortunate events unfolded for many Arsenal fans, including those who had placed bets on the team's match against Watford. However, for one Julius Kipkemboi, from Kipkaren catchment in Nandi County, the outcome was far from unfortunate.

According to Kipkemboi, he had initially planned to bet on an Arsenal win but accidentally picked Arsenal women, who were playing against Man United in the FA Women’s Super League. The women's team emerged victorious, earning Kipkemboi a significant win of Ksh423,693.

Had Kipkemboi placed his bet on the men's team, he would have lost the bet as Arsenal were held by Watford after a shambolic defensive display. This was one of the games that cost many punters their bets.

When asked about his betting strategy, Kipkemboi credited his father, who has been betting on sports for over 40 years. “I picked my betting strategy from my father who’s been betting on sports for over 40 years,” he said.
