On September 20, 2019, Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen's family gathered at his lawyer's office, ready to read his will, following his tragic death on July 20, 2019.
Cohen's body was discovered in a septic tank at his plush home in Kitisuru, sparking a police investigation into his murder.
According to reports, Cohen had left his Sh400 million villa to his sister Gabrie Van Straten, who had previously spoken out about the troubled marriage between Cohen and his wife, Sarah Wairimu.
In an interview with Citizen TV, Gabrie Van Straten stated that her brother's marriage was troubled, and she had witnessed Sarah Wairimu's violent behavior towards Cohen.
'She pushed him off a huge terrace in front of his house. He ended up down the stairs where she also attacked him with a chair. My first response was 'he is dead',
Wairimu, the main suspect in Cohen's murder, has denied any involvement in his death. In a blog post, she wrote, 'I am a proud mother of one, a loving wife, devoted daughter and sister, a happy home-maker and a hardworking, responsible Kenyan.'
However, in the same blog post, Wairimu also revealed that she had faced unfair scrutiny and criticism about her life, and had been compelled to speak out about the truth.
'2019 has been a very challenging year for me, for a myriad of reasons. Over the past few weeks, I have faced unfair scrutiny and criticism about my life, and things have been said about me that have gravely affected me, and now compelled me to speak out and say the truth. I take no pleasure in exposing what should be my private affairs in public, but at the moment, I have no choice.'
