Published on September 20, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has dismissed concerns about his whereabouts, saying he intentionally stayed out of his office to avoid interfering with ongoing corruption investigations.
He has twice recorded statements with anti-corruption sleuths in the past month, fuelling speculation about his potential arrest.
"To my critics who think I fear being arrested. No. No. No. No. No. No," Sonko wrote on Facebook, addressing his critics.
He also took issue with unnamed 'fake' friends who he accused of forcing him to name his deputy, a position that has been vacant since Polycarp Igathe resigned two years ago.
As the elected Governor of Nairobi, Sonko insisted that he remains in charge and is actively overseeing the day-to-day running of the county's affairs.
"City residents can confirm that service delivery in the county is running as usual and there is no power vacuum in the city," he said.
