On September 20, 2019, Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku urged police to arrest a group of youths who destroyed a perimeter wall at the newly constructed Kitengela market.
The incident occurred during a clash between hawkers and county askaris, who were removing them from the town centre. Scores were injured and property worth millions of shillings destroyed in the clash.
"You will not destroy public property and get away with it,” warned Lenku.
The governor was speaking at the KCB Grounds in Kajiado, where he issued bursary cheques in the second phase of disbursement to 6,000 beneficiaries.
Lenku announced that he had successfully lobbied the County Assembly to increase the kitty from Sh80 million to Sh150 million beginning January next year.
