On September 19, 2019, a Belgian F-16 jet crashed in the Morbihan region of western France, resulting in a dramatic rescue operation.

According to the local prefecture, both pilots successfully ejected from the aircraft before it crashed, but one pilot became stranded on a high-voltage power line.

The plane had taken off from Belgium and was heading to a French naval airbase near the town of Lorient when the incident occurred.

The Belgian defence ministry confirmed the incident, stating that the pilots had ejected safely, but declined to provide further details.

Rescue efforts were underway, involving military personnel and electricity workers, to free the stranded pilot.
