The US State Department has announced the registration period for the 2021 Diversity Visa Program, also known as the Green Card Lottery, will begin on October 2nd, 2019, at 12pm EDT and end on November 5th, 2019, at 12pm EST.
As part of this program, a total of 55,000 permanent resident visas (green cards) will be available to eligible applicants.
Registration for the Diversity Visa program is free and can be done online, with no cost to participants.
The program provides permanent resident visas to nationals of countries with low immigration rates to the United States over the last five years, including Kenya.
However, applicants from certain countries are ineligible to apply, including Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.
