Kenya Airways has taken the decision to suspend its direct flights to Gabon and Benin, effective October 14, as part of its ongoing network rationalization efforts.
The move, announced by Chief Commercial Officer Ursula Silling, is attributed to the impending low air-traffic season, which is set to kick off next month.
Travellers who had already booked flights to the affected destinations will be rerouted or rebooked through Kenya Airways' partner airlines, ensuring no disruption to their travel.
According to Silling, the carrier has made necessary arrangements to continue serving customers who had made forward bookings through its existing cooperation with partner airlines.
Kenya Airways has denied any linkages between the suspension of flights to Gabon and Benin and its recent issues with pilots over flight delays.
Despite the carrier's recent positive flight trend, which has seen the addition of new routes in Mogadishu, New York, and Geneva, the decision to suspend flights to Gabon and Benin is a result of the changing market demand.
