Kenya's junior football team arrived in Gulu, Uganda, on Friday, September 20, 2019, after a road journey from Nairobi. The team is set to participate in the Cecafa Under-20 Championship, which began on Saturday, September 21, 2019.
Kenya is grouped in Pool B alongside Ethiopia, Zanzibar, and Tanzania, a challenging lineup according to coach Stanley Okumbi. However, he remains optimistic about the team's chances.
"I think the tougher the group, the better the challenge. With the quality of players we have in the team, I don't think we have an excuse for not getting positive results," said Okumbi. "I have challenged my players to showcase their abilities, and I am confident we will do well," he added.
The team left Nairobi on Wednesday evening, September 18, 2019, and will face Zanzibar in their opening match on Sunday, September 22, 2019, in Jinja.
