Inspekta Mwala Sentenced to One Year in Prison

On September 19, 2019, a court in Kenya sentenced Inspekta Mwala to one year in prison for causing a fatal accident while driving recklessly.

According to reports, Mwala was driving a vehicle with the registration number KCV 807C on August 26, 2019, at around 3:00 a.m. on the Kaloleni-Mazeras road when he attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided with Ismael Mangi's car, killing him instantly.

Upasuaji wa maiti ya Mangi ulionesha kwamba marehemu alifariki kutokana na majeraha mabaya ya kichwani baada ya kugongwa.

Before the judge delivered the sentence, Mwala apologized to Mangi's family and stated that he did not intend to cause the accident.

"Pole. Naomba msamaha kwa familia ya marehemu. Sikukusudia kuisabaisha ajali hiyo. Sikukusudia kuua," Mwala said.

However, Mangi's family has stated that they will return to court to seek compensation from Mwala for the death of their loved one.

The court ordered Mwala to pay a fine of KSh 30,000 or serve one year in prison.
