On 31 March, a football fan in France made headlines for all the wrong reasons. He ran onto the field during a Ligue 1 game in Toulouse and took a selfie with the star player, Kylian Mbappe.

Published on 19 September 2019, the incident occurred in added time at the end of the first half, with the match still goalless.

The fan's actions did not go unpunished. He was fined €1,500 and banned from football grounds for six months, according to his lawyer, Mathieu Peter.

The prosecutor in Toulouse had initially requested a €500 fine and a one-year stadium ban, but the court ultimately decided on a harsher sentence.

In France, entering a sports stadium and disrupting the competition can carry a maximum punishment of one year in prison and a €15,000 fine.

According to Peter, the fan, an occasional PSG supporter, had told the court that he wanted a selfie and jersey from Mbappe and ran onto the field when he thought the whistle signaled the end of the half.

However, the fan's actions were short-lived, as he was quickly grabbed, dragged to the ground, and arrested. The police confiscated his phone, and he did not manage to keep the selfie.

Mbappe, however, made the most of the situation, scoring a 74th-minute winner in the game.
