Tob Cohen's Family and Sarah Wairimu Reach Agreement on Burial

After a long standoff, Tob Cohen's family and his wife Sarah Wairimu have finally reached an agreement on the burial arrangement for the late Dutch tycoon.

The agreement was reached on September 19, 2019, after drama ensued at Chiromo mortuary when Wairimu wrote to the management asking them not to release the body to any other person except her.

Wairimu, who is the chief suspect in the murder probe, had insisted that the body should not be released until the murder case is heard and determined, citing that she was still legally married to Cohen and should be allowed to give him a befitting send-off.

However, the family agreed to allow Wairimu to attend the burial ceremony, subject to obtaining a court order to allow her to participate.

The burial will take place on Monday, September 23, at a private ceremony at the Jewish cemetery in Nairobi along Wangari Mathai Road.

The agreement was signed by the lawyers of both parties, Cliff Ombeta for the deceased's family and Philip Murgor for Wairimu.

They asked the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji, Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti, and prison authorities to allow the compromise arrangement for Cohen to be accorded a dignified send-off as proposed.
