On September 19, 2019, a tragic incident unfolded in New York, leaving a 16-year-old boy, Khaseen Morris, dead.
A fight broke out between a group of about seven boys, with Morris being one of them, according to CNN.
Instead of his friends offering assistance, they chose to film the incident and post it on social media, while Morris lay bleeding on the pavement with a stab wound on his chest.
"If they would've put their phones down, Khaseen would've probably made it," Morris's elder sister, Keyana, was quoted as saying by CNN.
Morris was taken to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
According to Keyana, the fight started over a girl that Morris had walked home from a party.
The girl's ex-boyfriend, Tyler Flach, approached Morris and threatened him, leading to the altercation.
As a result, 18-year-old Flach was arrested and charged with second-degree murder by the Nassau County Police Department.
