On September 18, 2019, Mohammed 'Messi Agege' Katana made a match-winning performance for Bandari FC, scoring the winning goal against Zoo Kericho FC at the Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa.
With this victory, Agege's confidence in his team's ability to win the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title has grown. Bandari FC has finished second in the KPL for the past two seasons, and Agege believes he can provide the extra quality needed to finally win the title.
"I want to help the team as much as I can. We have CAF (Confederation Cup) matches and we want to go furthest in that competition. In the last two seasons we have been runners up in the league and the objective now is to win it," Agege said.
Bandari FC's coach, Nicholas Meja, also expressed his team's determination to win the title. "We want a trophy this season but mainly we want the league. We are going to try our best and see if we can bring it home," Meja said.
With three days to recover, Bandari FC will face Sony Sugar in their next match, their third in nine days.
