On September 19, 2019, a body was recovered near Nakuru State House, sparking a police investigation into the mysterious death.

The body, found half naked and face down in an open field opposite State House, had no visible physical injuries but showed signs of bloodstains, suggesting the victim may have been hacked to death.

Police collected an Identity Card registered in Kakamega and shoes suspected to have been left behind by the attackers, which could aid in identifying the victim and his killers.

The incident caused a traffic snarl along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway as hundreds of onlookers stopped and milled around the scene.

Residents have raised security concerns, citing recent incidents in the area, and have called on the county government to improve lighting to reduce crime rates.
