On Wednesday night, a devastating accident occurred on the Nairobi-Machakos highway, claiming the lives of three family members.
Samuel Mutunga, a well-known Machakos businessman and father of two, was among those who lost their lives in the tragic incident.
According to reports, Mutunga's son, Roy Mwendwa, was driving the saloon car when it collided head-on with a 14-seater Nissan matatu at Kanaani (Katheka Kai).
Tragically, Mutunga died on Thursday morning in hospital, while his son and grandson succumbed to their injuries later in the day.
The driver of the matatu died instantly, and the bodies have been moved to Machakos Hospital mortuary.
As of Thursday, 14 others who were injured in the accident were being treated at Machakos Level Four Hospital and were later discharged.
Machakos Director of Emergency Services, David Mwongela, stated that four people who were critically injured were still receiving treatment at Machakos Level Five facility.
