Manchester United will host Astana in their Europa League Group L opener on Thursday, September 19, at Old Trafford. The match marks the beginning of the Red Devils' continental campaign, and they are looking to build on their recent 1-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League.
United's manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is expected to ring in a few changes from the squad that defeated Leicester, giving youngsters a rare chance to showcase their skills. In-form winger Daniel James, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, and Luke Shaw are all expected to miss the fixture.
Solskjaer has already confirmed three starters for the clash, including Sergio Romero, Axel Tuanzebe, and promising forward Mason Greenwood. Romero is expected to take David De Gea's place between the sticks for the first time this season, with Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Tuanzebe providing cover in defense alongside veterans Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
Scott McTominay could be afforded a start to maintain calm in the midfield in partnership with Angel Gomes and Andreas Pereira. Marcus Rashford is expected to lead the attackline in a front three that could include Tahith Chong and Mason Greenwood.
