Real Madrid's Champions League campaign got off to a dismal start as they were thrashed 3-0 by Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.

Coach Zinedine Zidane was left frustrated by his side's lack of intensity and midfield dominance, admitting that PSG were 'superior to us in everything.'

Despite the presence of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, and Eden Hazard, Real failed to muster a shot on target for the first time in a decade, a period spanning 578 competitive games, according to Spanish sports statistician Mister Chip.

Eden Hazard, who made his first start for the club after injury following his 100 million-euro move from Chelsea, received a rating of two out of 10 from French sports daily L'Equipe.

"To not create chances with the players we had on the field, it is a bit of a strange feeling but that is how it is," Zidane said.

Real's defeat in Paris may not prevent them from reaching the last 16, but their performance contrasted sharply with two seasons ago, when they dumped PSG out en route to winning the Champions League.

With a tough test awaiting them on Sunday as they travel to face a Sevilla side who are top of La Liga, Zidane needs to find solutions quickly to get his team back on track.
