On September 18, 2019, the Council of Governors, led by Chairman Wycliffe Oparanya, released a statement condemning an opinion poll conducted by All Africa Advisors (AAA) that ranked county chiefs' performance.

The poll, which was published by a section of the media, was described by the Council as a 'political strategy to malign the country'.

The Council accused AAA of breaching protocols outlined in the Statistics (Amendment) Act, 2019, by conducting the research without seeking approval from the Kenya Accreditation Service.

They also refuted claims that the Council had provided a self-assessment questionnaire to each governor, stating that none of the governors had received them.

The Council further criticized AAA for listing Kenya as one of the seven most dangerous countries to live in globally, ignoring other war-torn countries.

'The council is of the considered view that the company has no locus to purport to have conducted a survey in the country with Kenya's interest at heart,' said Mr. Oparanya.

The survey, which ranked Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua as the top performing county boss, was conducted by InterNations, not All Africa Advisors.
