Published on September 19, 2019, Kisumu County Assembly witnessed a dramatic day with police clashing with MCAs.

Speaker Onyango Oloo's impeachment motion was moved by Kondele MCA Joachim Oketch, who cited 10 grounds, including flouting of Standing Orders.

Oketch specifically mentioned an incident where Oloo suspended three MCAs without following procedure.

He also highlighted allegations of abuse of office and the ongoing graft case related to the Lake Basin mall.

After voting, the acting Speaker declared that 42 MCAs had passed the motion, but a subsequent check revealed only 33 MCAs were present during the voting time.

Despite this discrepancy, Oraro maintained that the required majority voted to impeach Oloo, who needs 36 MCAs to be removed according to the Standing Orders.
