Published on September 19, 2019, a total of 500 women entrepreneurs from Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda have entered the 2X Invest2Impact competition.

The competition, open to all women entrepreneurs in the region, offers four tracks: 2Xcelerate for women-led business owners, 2Xcapital for SMEs, 2Xcrowd for crowd funding campaigns, and 2Xcatalyze for network building.

Organizers aim to support women entrepreneurs making a positive impact on local economies by providing mentorship, business development services, visibility, and funding opportunities.

The competition has attracted six international firms: Graca Machel Trust, FinDev Canada, CDC Group plc, Proparco, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), and the Mastercard Foundation.

Winners in four categories will receive $25,000, $20,000, $20,000, and $20,000 respectively, with the final awards announced on November 25 in Rwanda.
